Daniel Ricciardo is convinced his relationship with teammate Max Verstappen can stay competitive and healthy, even if they are title rivals in 2017.Verstappen was elevated to Red Bull from Toro Rosso ahead of the Spanish GP this year and won his debut race for the team. Ricciardo is yet to be out-qualified by Verstappen in their races together and could have won in Spain himself were it not for a Red Bull strategy blunder, before a botched pit stop cost him a nailed-on win in Monaco.Red Bull has confirmed the pair are under contract until 2018 and Ricciardo says the arrival of Verstappen has been beneficial to the whole team. Its hard to predict whats going to happen in the long run but I can obviously speak for the first few races, and its been good, Ricciardo said. Max came in and set a bit of a tone in Barcelona so that was obviously a pretty crazy weekend. Since then its been good.Monaco then didnt work as well for him, and he openly admitted it and took it on the chin. So weve thrived off the new challenge, the new rivalry, so hopefully it can keep pushing the team in the right direction.Red Bull is hoping 2017s regulation changes put the onus back on aerodynamics and elevates them into title contention. Ricciardo says respect between the two teammates will be key to ensuring such a rivalry does not get out of hand in that eventuality.Hopefully there is some rivalry as a rivalry would probably mean were fighting for victories more often, but sure you can still have a healthy one. I think if youre mature about it and just admit one guy is better on the day and be open about it, I think you will always have good respect for each other. Its probably when you start making excuses out of nothing is when it doesnt work out too well so just keep going hard, and I think so far so good.Though Ricciardo is eight years older than his teammate, at 26 he remains one of the brightest young commodities on the grid. The Australian knows he could have achieved more in his time in Formula One but is in no doubts he is ready for a title tilt.In 2011 I got my chance and it was my dream come true, then you do a few races, and then youre like now I want to be with a better team, I want points, I want podiums, I want wins. Fortunately Ive been able to get some wins now, which is a big box ticked for me.Now its like, OK, I want the next best thing which is a world championship. In a way youre never satisfied but obviously thats good because Im still very young and hungry so that fuels my hunger, but sure Im happy. Obviously Im very grateful to be in this position.I think all of us appreciate to be in this position, all 22 of us that are here. It is awesome but you cant help but want more. I think Seb [Vettel] at my age already had his four titles. So when I look at Seb Im like uhh! Id obviously love to achieve more at this age but fortunately Ive got some time on my side I think. CLEVELAND -- RG3 is getting chance No. 3. And maybe his last one for the Browns.Still looking for that elusive first victory, Cleveland coach Hue Jackson is keeping Robert Griffin III as his starting quarterback this week against San Diego for the bad-to-the-bone Browns, who are desperately trying to avoid an 0-15 start and perhaps the second 0-16 season in NFL history.Well go out there and give him another opportunity to take a swing at it, Jackson said.Jackson had considered changes following Sundays 33-13 loss in Buffalo, the Browns sixth straight by double digits. However, after watching the game tape, Jackson felt Griffin made more progress in his second start since Sept. 11 and will give him another one. There was some improvement, Jackson said on a conference call. There were some things that I thought he did much better when you go back and watch the tape than the first time he played. Hopefully there can be another jump in this next game. But I think he needs to go play and he needs to play well.Griffin completed 17 of 28 passes for 196 yards against the Bills, who flushed him from the pocket throughout much of the game and sacked him five times. Griffin, who missed 11 weeks after breaking a bone in his left shoulder in the season opener, ran eight times for 48 yards and scored on an 18-yard scamper. It was an upgrade from his return against Cincinnati a week earlier, when he went 12 of 28 for 104 yards and an interception.I thought in the second half, I thought he stood in there and threw some good balls, said Jackson, who is using the final four games to evaluate whether Griffin can be Clevelands QB going forward. I thought he started managing and running our offense with efficiency. I thought he was in rhythm. You know for a moment there we looked like the offense that Ive come to know a little bit, and I thought there was an uptick in performance. But despite Griffins jump, Jackson wants more and said he will not hold back in pulling Griffin in favor of rookiie Cody Kessler, who made eight starts while RG3 was recovering from his injury.ddddddddddddI wont be hesitant in this game because I would like to see a little a bit of Cody before the end of this season, and if things are not going as well as I like, I do have that card to where I could put Cody in the game, he said. With every loss, the Browns inch closer to unwanted infamy. They set a franchise record with their 13th straight loss and matched the club record for losses in a season. The Browns have dropped 17 in a row over the past two seasons, and including their four exhibition games this season, theyre on a 21-game losing streak. After hosting the Chargers, the Browns will wrap up a season that cant end fast enough on Jan. 1 in Pittsburgh.Jackson said he worries about the negativity shaking his players and carrying over into 2017.You can very well think that way, he said. But were going to fix this and we have to on all levels, and thats one of the levels. I think really dealing with our players once this seasons over and once we get back, weve got to rid the whole locker room and everything of those feelings and those thoughts because once this is over its over, and weve got to move forward and move on to bigger and better things.I truly believe our players understand that, I know our staff will and I know our organization will and thats what well do.Game notes WR Terrelle Pryor tore a finger ligament in Sundays loss and could miss the final two games. Jackson said Pryors availability will be based on whether he can tolerate the pain. A person familiar with the injury told the AP that Pryor will have surgery following the season. ...
